Green Card Eligibility

Becoming a Green Card carrier, also known as a Permanent Resident Card, allows you to live and work permanently in the United States. The steps you must take to apply for a Green Card depend on your individual situation according to the immigration category you are applying under. These include applying:

Through family;
Through employment;
As a Special Immigrant;
Through refugee or asylee status;
As a human trafficking or crime victim;
As a victim of abuse;
Through a registry; or
Through other categories.

How to Create US CIS Account

To complete the Green card application form online, you have to first create an account with the Citizenship and Immigration Services. Follow the steps below to sign up an account:

Before now, create an account with the U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services website by clicking on Create an Account.
Enter your Email and click on Sign Up. Proceed to your email to confirm your account.
Click on “I Agree” and proceed to choose your passport.
Complete your two-step authentication by selecting Email or Phone.
Paste it in the box and submit.
Provide your Password reset question and answers
Submit when you are done

Green Card Application Form

To download the U.S Passport form, you will first have to visit the U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services website to be able to download the category of form you want to fill for Green Card.

Here is how to download and fill the U.S green card application form online:

Go to uscis all-forms
Under All Forms, select the type of form you want to fill. Example: Employment-Based Form
Activate the Show forms available to file online first
Note, you must login first before downloading the forms and document
Click on any of the Forms and Document to start downloading in PDF.

Green Card Application Filing Fee

The cost for the green card application form is$410.

You may be exempt from paying the filing fee. See the form instructions for more information.

You must pay an $85 biometric services fee if you are filing with one of the following eligibility categories:

(c)(8) An applicant with a pending asylum application requesting an initial or renewal EAD;
(c)(33) Requesting consideration of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA);
(c)(35) A beneficiary of an approved employment-based immigrant petition and you are facing compelling circumstances;
(c)(36) A spouse or unmarried dependent child of a beneficiary of an employment-based immigrant petition who is facing compelling circumstances; or
(c)(37) An applicant for Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) long-term resident status.

Note to (c)(33) and (c)(37) filers: There is no fee waiver for your Form I-765 base fee ($410) or biometric fee ($85).

There is no biometric services fee for any other eligibility category.

You may pay the fee with a money order, personal check or cashier’s check.  When filing at a USCIS Lockbox facility, you may also pay by credit card using Form G-1450, Authorization for Credit Card Transactions. If you pay by check, you must make your check payable to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Service centers are not able to process credit card payments.

When you send a payment, you agree to pay for a government service. Filing and biometric services fees are final and non-refundable, regardless of any action we take on your application, petition, or request, or if you withdraw your request.
